Is it river worthy?

This popped up on woot today, and was thinking it might work as a river carrying case for my DSLR camera versus Otter Box or ammo can. What do the buzzards think?

Sport.Woot

Note - I have no affiliation with woot other than I buy stuff from them.

I have this as a captains cooler/ dry box. Though it's touted as dry I would not be storing my photo gear in it. I would throw clothing and other stuff that would survive in the off chance of a leak but the only thing I would trust expensive camera gear to would be a good quality ammo can or better yet my pelicans.

Camera gear gets pelican box or padded out watershed bag.

It was well rated (4.2 out of 5) but there were evaluations like this:

I bought the cooler mainly because it is rated as a cooler/dry box. I've used it twice now on a boat and when it gets splashed with water it leaks water to the inside. I'm disappointed about this. It's not much better than a cooler I paid less than $20 for.

The brand was really what made me think that it might be a good choice, but I'll probably pass.

I just bought one, it will serve a purpose one way or another. I will test it to see if it is truly water-tight and post the results.

I use this as a captains's box/cooler and have never had any issues with it. Keeps lunch and drinks cold and have never had any leakage. Plenty of big waves have crashed on it. I would recommend it.

Just to reiterate - I still wouldn't trust my camera gear to this (esp in a flip).

I've had one (two actually- first one failed on day one) for a couple of years. It's so air tight that mine exploded with the altitude change from here to Carbondale. I wouldn't trust a camera kit inside it in a flip- but I like it as my day cooler. No drain holes- just a rubber gasket around the lid and two metal buckles to hold it shut. Pretty much just a double walled box. Not sure how much foam (if any) is between the walls.

That it exploded due to an altitude change is yet another reason to not trust this box for high quality electronics.
