Another option is to use the gallon sized plastic bottles that the Arizona iced teas come in. Pretty thick plastic and has held my Mt Gay rum and Knob Creek whiskey just fine over many trips. Choice of course depends on season and taste at that time of year.

I also use them filled with water and frozen in my cooler. Better than block ice and provides nice cold drinking water later in the trip.

Not to hijack this thread, but this is kinda related.

I'd love to be able to buy those bladders that box wine comes in. They might work for Russkie Firewater, River Margs, as well as pillows, water jugs, freezing ice (maybe I mean freezing water to make ice?) etc. Does anyone know if they can be bought new and if they will work for Hi Octane drink?

The father of the Balloon Boy used up all the freebie ones in No Co.

OK, these are not 2.5 gals, but we've been using them for a couple of years for booze storage(and consumption) on river trips. The 32 oz. will hold a fifth. Cheap, durable, packs away to nothing once they're empty. Best of all, they are design to hold liquor.
