I am looking to pick up a Mini Max pretty quick. Eventually I want to outfit it with a frame to do overnight trips. I am also in the market for a new cooler and am ready to buy one, but I don't know if it would fit between the tubes. How much interior space is between the tubes on the Mini Max, and how much room is there for a cooler to hang down between the top of the floor and the frame? What are other guys using for coolers in this boat?
I have a mini max and a 45 qt yet which fits nicely.
Have fun, but watch out, the Mini Max is very "active" unloaded. It wants to get surfed everywhere and big waves are a wild ride.... it has put me in the drink now a few times.
24" inside dimension is pretty accurate actually. I have a 24" captains box that I turn sideways and sit on it as a dry box in the mini-Max. That dry box squeezes in perfectly between the thwart connections, so the box ends up not really rubbing on the rubber!
I just use a cheap Coleman for the mini, but it's a 45 qt I think, and it's not quite 24" wide.
I bought a cooler that measures about 25 inches across for the front seat. Fits tight and nicely between the thwart attachments, gives support without the thwart in.
