My old towers squeeked like banshees (Standard NRS with their brass locks). I would periodically spray them (very lightly) with a penetrating oil. This would last for a few months (usually a summer) but over time it got worse and worse until it would only lasta few days. Invariably I'd spend a day splashing them with water once the lube wore away then reapply when I got home (if I remembered). Over time they had become looser and looser in the their holes as well so I decided to ditch them and "build" new towers.
My new towers are just AAA cast end fittings bolted to NRS pipe, but whoever drilled them out did a horrible job as they were super loose. I haven't had them on the water but knew they woud drive me batty so I orderd bushings and installed them last night actually. So basically you guys have not made my day
