Gamma lids seal

I'm noticing that the seal on my gamma lids, over the course of a year or so of use, stretch out so they don't stay on the lid anymore. Anyone else experience this?

I'll be this will cause a bunch of people to run and check to see if the seal is still on their lid

No, but I have had one break. I contacted mfgr and they sent me a bunch of replacements.

When I used to turn wrenches we would use a shot of carb cleaner to shrink o rings and other seal. Wouldn't use it one one for food groover maybe.

I use gamma buckets for household compost and with daily use they start falling off after a year or so - just once in a while and easy to put back on. I think I'll contact the manufacturer like lhowemt and try to get a few.

We have had this problem, and we decided it was from people over tightening the lids. If folks crank on the lid it will stretch the O ring a lot faster. Constant use will do it as well. Since the lids cost about $8, it's not a big deal to buy a new lid, but having it fall off into the sand on a trip sucks.

For a quick fix you could cut out a section (1/2" or so?) with a razor blade and glue back together with SuperGlue. Don't know what material Gamma uses for their white rings, but this works great on Buna.

i had a seal break too. Also I was getting a lot of condensation inside so I taped some of those silica packets to the lid. i also throw a couple in my ammo can. worked great. save the silica packets that come with drybags, shoes and other random packaging.
