Does anyone make a sealable lid for the 4 gallon square buckets?
Much better for packing and less wasted space being square.

Life latch makes square buckets also. Life Latch® Square Pails | U.S. Plastic Corp. In my experience the life latch buckets last a long time and are more water proof than gamma seal.

I just like the availability of the standard 5 gallon buckets, regular tops etc. You can also get free 3 gallon buckets from your local grocery bakery.

Ok, thanks for posting this thread up. It has made me look at my gamma lids (in advance of a MFS trip).

Oh Boy! I have a few of the 3 and 5 gal buckets with gamma lids that I've used for food, charcoal, sundries, etc. over time, so I wanted to convert one of them into a "lighter" weight groover. Glad I decided to test them for water-tightness to see which would be the best for the groover.... Guess what, THEY ALL LEAKED. That's probably not a surprise to anyone... but all the o rings looked to be in good shape, all lids were sealed tight. Putting about a gallon of water in them and inverting the bucket caused all 3 of them to leak from the seal almost immediately. I'm not talking about a few drops, but a nice stream.. like my dog makes on the fire-hydrant...

I thought I'd drop a few more $$ on plastics and took "rivers2run" advice and got a couple 'lip-lock" Life-Latch buckets and lids. Test re-performed with only a few minimal drops of water released. Much happier now knowing that I am not going to use the gamma seal buckets for anything real important. Especially the poo stew. As always, YMMV.

They really are better but watch the vapor lock if you reseal them in heat they can be a bugger to open also if you close them at altitude.

I can’t recommend the o-rings I got from freckleface…..the rings themselves are nice, good rubber, fit tight. But….the diameter of the material itself is way smaller than the original o-ring. I don’t even think it makes contact with the female side of the lid when it’s tightened down. Water gushed out when I tested it.

The search continues. I emailed gamma about new rings, no reply yet.
