Galvanized Steel Frame Rub Marks

I bought a used yellow Maravia Williwaw 2 and it has some pretty atrocious rub marks. I used some Simple Green, some MEK, and some elbow grease and cleaned it up a bit but far from perfect. Trying to minimize in the future I decided to spray paint and put many coats of enamel to harden and keep from marking. Just had another thought and need your opinion. What about wrapping the entire frame in electrical tape? Tightly wrapped and in color. Started a small section and it looks pretty good (no use so far though). Has anyone done something similar, even if it were a maintenance task doesn't take much time or money.

Wrap a piece of pipe as a test and set it out in the elements for a few weeks. I think it will disintegrate into a gluey, gooey, plastic. Better off with good spray paint.

The plastic covers on my CARLISLE's went to hell. So I covered them with blue duct tape . It worked well. For about a year. Just had to remove it all. The adhesive residue is a bitch to get off. I kind of like the brushed aluminum look now.

gaffer's tape is designed to hold its properties for a much longer time, you can get a few years worth of outdoor use with it.

Still say better off with decent spray paint with an annual touch up.
