I strongly dislike rowing with oar rights, I feather a lot, in all kinds of conditions and love that when I hit rocks my blade can roll out of the way. I do however think they have they're place for some folks and personally believe there are times when everyone could benefit by using them and other times that everyone would benefit by not using them. For me the "not" times far outweigh the "do" times. In the end I think it's personal preference but, I also believe that which ever your style, you should spend some time rowing the opposite - I'd bet you'd be surprised at the advantages you find. With the convertible rights, you have the best of both worlds.
You'd have to beat me over the head, drug me and then tie my hands to the oars and shove me over a water fall before I'd use pins and clips... but that's just my opinion.
