I like that its light weight, but the Adjust a Grill we used on my Ladore trip was warped pretty badly. I put it down to the thin metal on the floor of the pan. I think doubling the thickness of just the bottom would help, but that would mean a lot more welding.
If I was making one, and I probably will since I have all the tools to do so, I'd just look at all the features you like from the commercially available ones and put them together into the one you make.
p.s. we also found out that doing the dutch oven directly on the fire blanket puts a dutch oven size hole in it. It charred all the way through. Seems to me there still is a great answer to a truly durable and flame/coal proof fire blanket yet. At least nothing affordable....I'm sure there is some uber expensive material used in industry that would do it.
