I think mine actually kicks over at 5kpa, but yes, it's not much psi, but does fully inflate the chambers to "squishy" then pressurizes it with the other stage. Takes about a minute on each chamber to inflate to size, another two minutes to achieve full pressure.
I normally run my urethane chambers around 24 kpa, about 3 1/2 to 4 psi. Up to 3 psi on my hypalon boat.

how agonizing would it be to do an entire 14 foot boat with a K400?
I do a similar thing with my duckies, use a cheap coleman 12v pump that isn't strong enough to push air in unkess the valves are open...I just have to close them quickly once it tops out its blowing pressure. I then top off with a k20, which I have enjoyed for the versitility on the standard floors, and now a drop stich floor. This system works well for me with a couple tandem duckies and a couple solo duckies too.

My friend has a similar 12v and the AAA version of the k### for his 14' raft, and it seems to work ok.
