I am willing to bet it is a PVC boat. I know Mercury makes some PVC boats because I read once about some yacht owners complaining about them not holding up in the sun. Someone was throwing one (Mercury) away after only a few years and buying a tender made of hypalon. Those yacht tenders sit in the sun day in and day out so discerning owners insist on hypalon because it stands up to heat and UV better.
I'd say if you are going to store it inside, welded
PVC would be fine. Make sure it isn't glued. The life-span of glued
PVC seams is somewhat questionable at this time and I am certain you will want this boat to last for a long time. This old river rat happens to think nothing
will out-last hypalon though - but that's just me.
