Well, there's Snaggletooth on the Dolores (RIP), so named because of the sharp and pointy rock in there that had a tendency to rip boats open if the guide was incautious. Chosen because of all the rapids and rivers and times I've had on the river, Snaggletooth always seemed to be the one that kicked my butt.

And Chicken Raper on the Lower Dolores, named for Chris Raffin (also RIP) you know, cause them early wimmen guides had high standards when it came to chickens........

And Windy Hole on the North Platte, cause by running it in high water you came to understand intimately how a Pinto Bean felt the morning after........

I have never and will never run this section of river but Coming Home Sweet Jesus on the Lower Meadow in WV is a great name for a rapid where 80% of the flow goes into a cave.

That is my understanding. I think he died in Coyote Falls.

Not a real rapid but should be...

Every rafter wants to avoid herpe-gona-syphil-aids.

Vortex on the Forks of the Kern (because it's wicked)
Flight Simulator on the EFSF Sal. (because of the noise from the rapid)
Tank on the Upper Animas (because of the nearby water tank)
Slaughterhouse Falls (origin?)

I like Doris in the Grand, cus when a certain Highlands ski patroller (who shall remain unnamed) was messin around not paying attention and went black side up we got yell at him the rest of the day " Hey Lumpy what day is it?" over and over and he had to respond, "It's Doris Day!"
