Any one build raft frames????

Does anyone out there have any experience building a fishing frame......Down river sells all the parts, is it worth it? I have an aire tributary and am looking for a simple frame that I can fish out of. Frames out of NRS or AIRE are too expensive for me right now and am looking for an alternative.

I have also herd of people out there that build custom frames, any suggestions?

As others have said, there is lots of info on here on DIY frame building. In terms of having a custom one made, you might check with Gary at Raft Frame, Cataraft, Cataraft frame, Rowframe, and Whitewater Equipment. He's very good to work with and his prices are reasonable. He's also a hoot.

Had Gary do a frame last year for me....yup, hes a hoot alright, and stands by his frames and workmanship. Reasonable prices for sure- a savings of time and money steered me away from doing up my own frame....although the current winter time garage/boat tinkering has me making changes and daydreaming of bigger boats and bigger it goes.

I finally decided to do my own, but not because I think I can do it any better or signficantly cheaper than Gary could have, although it will save me a few bucks. I just thought it would be fun and good experience for this newbie. I ordered all the components today, so I'm like my eight year old waiting for Santa to come.
