Any guesses on this Hysides's age?????

So I finally pulled the trigger on a real boat. Got me an old Hyside!! Just over 15', and not a single patch on her!!
The guy I got it from told me it's a 1998, but the serial plate's long gone.

Couple reasons make me think it is a little older....

-The rocker..... Looks like there's an extra panel in the rocker, gives it a fairly extreme angle for a Hyside, especially of that era.
-The metal handles, fore and aft(like on an old Avon). I didn't think Hyside did those past the mid 90's.
Valve placement and a few other minor details look correct, but I'm not sure.....

Now I'm kinda thinking it might be an early/mid 90's boat, but I dunno.

Either way, I'm super stoked, and can't wait to get her on the water!!

Any buzzards gotta guess on this things age?????

Post a pic of the serial number, the year will be in there, can't remember where it is in the sequence, but it's there.

yep you're correct, the serial number's last 2 digits are the year of manufacture, and I think that's an industry standard kinda thing, definitely on Hysides....

unfortunately this boat's serial plate fell off, probably years ago
(it was a commercial boat, although it appears that it wasn't used very often!!)

Looks like from his post the whole serial plate fell off.
Sorry I can't be of more help, I bet if you call hyside and send em some pictures, they are pretty great and knowledgeable and can help you out.

Yeah man, the whole serial plates gone, not just the last 2 digits...- ya smartass!!

Does you and your girl's new Hyside have that extra panel in the rocker??
What year's yours, an '05 or so????

I seem to recall that those late '90's Hysides we ran at A1 back in the day had less of a rocker angle than this boat; and didn't have that handle either.....
My memory from those days is kinda fuzzy tho

The old military valves are another clue, I'm not sure when they switched over to the C-7 valves but I think it was in the early 2000s.

The laced-in thwarts may also be a clue. Definitely give Hyside a call or send an email to them!

Good luck finding out the year!

Thanks Andy!!
Yeah, I think the conversion to Leafield C7's was around '03-ish, but they played around with different thwart attachments in the early 2000's too.
The lacey's definitely make me think '90s.

The rocker angle confuses me tho. It's different than most mid/late '90s Hysides that I've ever seen.
I kinda like it tho!! It looks like a wave-destroyer!!!

No worries man....
...I am but a lowly raft guide. It took me 34 years to save up $1800 for a boat.

Best $1800 I ever spent, tho!!!
I envision good times on this boat for many decades to come!!!

Now comes another 34 years of saving my tips to outfit it....
