Does you and your girl's new Hyside have that extra panel in the rocker??
What year's yours, an '05 or so????
I seem to recall that those late '90's Hysides we ran at A1 back in the day had less of a rocker angle than this boat; and didn't have that handle either.....
My memory from those days is kinda fuzzy tho
Ive seen the extra panel on longer boats from the eighties. You may have noticed the boat is not symmetric with regards to the bow and stern, something they did back then. Admittedly, this is the first high side Ive seen this way, but avon use to do it on their boat that were 15ft and up. That leads me to believe its out of the eighties. Looks like it was used as an oar frame commercially, which due to its size makes since. This also would explain why it is in good shape. It was most likely used on high volume rivers, instead of getting slammed into every rock some rookie could find on the poudre or the ark. Ive rowed 22 foot high sides out of the early 2000's, it did not have the extra panel, and was symmetric.
The boat we got is a 97.
Back at A-1, i remember working on some of his boats that were out of the eighties. But they were only 14ft. As far as handle goes, by the time you and I arrived at A-1 those boats had already seen 15-20 yrs of service and probably had gone through a number of handle repairs.
Hit up highside, they should have some info.
But just to be clear, the whole serial number is missing, or just the last two numbers?
