While not as convent to open as a hatch, you can cover the bay's with a few cam straps. Tighter spacing if you want to walk on it.

Great way to improvise on the spot if you're uncertain as to whether you even want hatch covers.

This works particularly well with pads thicker than pacos, like an air bed.

I just used a caliper to measure the front hatch cover, side decks, trailer frame decks, and table on my PRO rig built up in 1993 by Douglas (D9) and they're all 0.125. I'm over 200 pounds and just stood on the front hatch cover and it doesn't flex.

They use .190 for hatches now. Not sure when they switched but it has been .190 for a while.
