The regs only say “washable and reusable”, for some reason they aren’t quite as strict as in a national park. I’ve seen porta-potty camping style ones pass there. And of course no bags.
The key thing for them I was told was being able to fill it with water and invert it without it leaking. Make sure you have a dang good o-ring on there. They check the same for seals on rocket boxes where an eco-safe isn’t being used inside.
Check-in’s I’ve found it depends on if a ranger checks you in or the camp volunteer that year. I usually get the down low on what items they’ll be checking the night before so I can have those available without digging. One year I even had a ranger ask me how confident I was that I had all the required equipment. I told him absolutely positive and he said launch. He ended up checking me out at our campsite later on. Depends on their mood I guess.
