Charcoal was OK last weekend but no open fires. Water spigot is on.

Yes... The Moab Ranger Office said in my Thread about trying to get a few people to join me tomorrow that it is still in effect until at least the end of the month. Someone said that they were told at the boat ramp that it was okay to burn firewood, but talking to the permit office its only ok to use charcoal. Either way, you have to bring a fire pan whether the ban is on or not.

Any chance you have an extra spot on your trip? I have a 16' Avon Pro or a 12' Hyside raft to offer. I like to cook and I'd even volunteer for groover duty.

Happy fall all - Indeed the fire ban is still in effect through at least the end of the month. Fire pans are required in Westwater Canyon and although you may not burn wood or have fires, you may use charcoal. Many private and commercial river runners plan their overnight menus with an interest in using dutch ovens and charcoal. For this reason I do my very best, each year, to work with the fire program and include language in the fire ban that allows for the use of charcoal. Thank you for being safe and responsible while out recreating on your public lands and related waters!!
