If you are going to make the left run at this flow you need to be sideways to the current or stern pointing 45 degrees downstream so you can bust the eddy fence off of that large rock on river left.
The waves coming off the eddy/rock just pushed you right back into the steep face. Pretty sure you saw that soft spot about 5 to 8 feet further right and that will take you through if straight. There is another slick spot through the hole on the far right too.
Three very hard right hand only strokes at about 48 to 49 seconds might have pushed you over the fence as well. Hard to focus on that when you have that big bastard down below staring at you.
