Smith in MT

We have a permit for Sept. Any idea of whether or not there will be water?

Time is like a river. You cannot touch the water twice, because the flow that has passed will never pass again. Enjoy every moment of life on or off the river. is offline   Reply With Quote

I ran the Smith last year in late Sept with my 13' Super Puma. The put in was running at 200cfs. It was work navigating around the rocks and little fishing. I'd do er again any time over 200

It's a long ways off, but I'd bet she's a no go this September! Like spider, I've run it as low as the mid 90 cfs range. One of those trips was WORK, 11 hours to get to indian springs (that's 6 miles)! The other was planned better and went just fine with fairly light boats. We did not go back packing style but most of the cast iron stayed home and we went with no more than 2 people per boat. I think the later in the year you can go the better, the water should come up as the irrigators stop irrigating, usually mid sept to early October depending on the year.
Yesterday's gone on down the river and you can't get it back. - Agustus McCrae
