I've done the Babine once. It's a great river. 6 day trip in early Aug 2011. Flows were around 125cms out of the lake. Those flows are relatively high as I understand it. The boulder gardens on day 3 were large holes/waves and was the hardest day of the trip. The more defined features later on were easier at those flows. Skeena had a few bigger rapids and whirlpools but was a quick trip out to the village (much slower at lower flows). At lower flows the boulder gardens get easier and the canyons later on get narrower and more difficult. As of last year there was a large log in Kisgegas canyon. There is a guidebook for the river but it's pretty vague. It's a solid NWBC class 3 river (read: class 4 - most anywhere else). With some potential in certain areas for bad swims and difficult recoveries but we paddled it at high-ish water in a small raft so maybe my memory is skewed. The fishing is awesome and there is literally grizzly bears everywhere. There was a grizzly bear fishing 50 feet across the river from us when we scouted and ran Grizzly Drop...PM me if you'd like more info.
