San Juan - Several Spaces Available S.I. - C.H. 5/7 - 5/14

Hello fellow Buzzards, I have several spaces available(4+) on a 12 person permit for the San Juan, Sand Island to Clay Hills, May 7th through May 14. Have Grand Gulch campsite on 5/13. Looking to make a roster and increase my circle of boating friends. Same old story, lots of promises then lots of flakes, so space is available. Strive to be a man of my word especially to permit commitments.

Info: I'm a 51 year old , old school, new age hippie living in Alma Colorado, a town of 250 people south of Breckenridge Colorado. Experienced, 30 plus days on the river last season..... Have done quite a few big rivers. Have not run the San Juan before. Tolerant, witty, calm under pressure and happy cabbage friendly. Don't need to raft with the party until you drop crowd, you can drop elsewhere. Looking for a peaceful stress free trip with fellow boaters who know how to do their share and don't need to be prodded. Want to be around people who want to manipulate water, not each other. Would like to get into lots of hiking and side trips on this trip. Should have at least one layover day. Have motor and we can raft up if needed. Still up in the air about bringing the iron oar.
Have all the gear if needed and an extra 2 person ducky if needed. Can deal with food fanatics, though group meals are better. I do stop for lunch to avoid the late afternoon low blood sugar bitchies. Usually have my beer in a drag bag and know what kind of beer pirates drink.

The usual, share basic costs on the river, your party essentials are on your own, though we can share. Shuttle costs $170/vehicle on this one. Have 14 foot hyside and raft trailer. Can double up on trailer, lots of weight would be a problem.

So if this seems reasonable and your interested send me a private message. Cheers Hecto

Sounds like my wife and I would get along great with a person like you. We are a mellow couple in our mid-thirties who tend to hang out with people a bit older than us. It works out well because their kids tend to be grown (we don'the have any) and can afford the types of toys we have. I am very interested but would need to speak with my wife and check with my boss about the time off. I am a class III kayaker with some rafting experience. My new 14' Outlaw shipped today and I can't wait to get it on the water. I have been down Deso and had my eye on the San Juan for a few years. I am certified in wilderness first aid and have a lot of outdoor experience and gear, though I am new to the oars. I have a very limited kitchen and have yet to purchase a toilet setup but I have enough time to get by. I do construction Monday-Friday and work for an outdoor outfitter some weekends. I get along with most everybody and pull my weight around camp. So if your up for a rookie oarsman and his wife, let me know and I will check with the powers that be. Thanks and either way enjoy your trip.

I bailed on Sanchez on this trip. My boy is afraid of groovers still and the cards didn't fall in place. He's a great friend of mine and a pleasure to float with. Enjoy the scenics! Fortunately I will see Sanchez in my neck of the woods shortly after.

I am not going to be able to make it. I think one of my bosses is getting fired or demoted and I have to take over. So thing are going to be hectic for me for a while.
