San Juan below Clay Hills

We are thinking about doing a low water canoe trip on San Juan late July. I'm curious about the SJ below Clay Hills. I have seen the sediment waterfall, and wonder if we could portage that and continue onto the lake ("Glen Canyon").

Was trying to figure out where we would have to get for road access (or have someone pick us up with houseboat)?

Anyone done this or know of anyone?

The San Juan arm of Lake Powell is a very long way from anywhere. Think several hours by speed boat from Hall's Crossing. That area is much less visited by motor craft than pretty much any other area on the lake, so hitchhiking could be pretty interesting.
