Curious how you switch so easily to a Rogue trip. Since it's also a permit river are cancellations so easy to obtain?

There are are often last minute cancellations for the Rogue if you are flexible. We only live a few hours away and are already packed so shifting gears is easy for us. Had to pull the trigger this morning as air quality in Salmon is currently listed as very unhealthy. Actually hit hazardous - the highest rating- briefly overnight. Hopefully we can get on the Main next year.

Just got off the Main on the 25th. Smokey for the last 5 of 6 days. Camping at Paine creek, you could barely see the opposite ridge in the morning. One of the kids had asthma and the smoke made it very uncomfortable for her. At take-out, we had ash coming down like snow. Heard a rumor that Riggins was being evacuated, from a guy at the gas station this morning in Boise.

According to InciWeb "Evacuations are now in effect from Lake Creek Point North to the Salmon River, east to French Creek Road"

Riggins is not under evacuation but that whole area is under notice, level 1???

I would think they would be closing the river as it seems like the take out area is under evac????

We launch in two weeks. Fingers crossed that things will be better by then. I also have good friends in McCall and it looks like there's a fire about 12 miles away from them. Praying for everybody to stay safe and for things to get under control. Thanks to all the buzzards who are posting updates.
