Ben Hurt and Big Drop 3 are always the ones that get my attention at low water. Ben Hurt has some tight maneuvering around big features; Big Drop 3 is a simple move with bad consequences if it goes wrong.

Some of the rapids at low water are just a blast. If I remember right Mile Long becomes a series of S-Turns that are like a water park ride

Did this last fall with 1 cat boat and a 4 hp motor. Depending on flow, its worth to have the motor for the flat water out. Dirty Devil takout is steep but we were able to get trailer right down to the water. Amazing trip. Dont miss Dark Canyon side hike with incredible water polishing of embeded rocks on creek right just above its confluence. Small camp on top of high sand bar for 3-4 tents. Happ Trails!

Here's a photo of that camp on the sand bar at Dark Canyon, taken in 2013.

Yessir! I remember going down the left side of that last big hole....thinking, "you could put a dump truck in there...". Extremely humbling.

OP, If you have enough people and boats to split up, the hike over "The Loop" is pretty fun. Also, Clearwater Canyon is an amazing place to take an evening hike. Something about the alcoves and the high's an amazing place to see. Not sure what shape the Clearwater Camp is in (like I said, its been a few years) but we had a great night there.

September / October should be a great time to float Cat, at least it was for me. Definitely go with the motor if you're thinking a six day trip. Dollhouse and loop hikes are great. We ran all the rapids in one day. First time down for all of us. I led through all but the first couple. Opted to read-and-run all but the big drops. BD three definitely needs a look, but in hindsight we didn't need to scout the others. Have a blast, it's a great place to spend a week!
