Need a destination for a 2-3 day rafting/camping trip near western NC

Hi, I'm trying to organize a rafting trip for the 3rd or 4th weekend in
April for a few friends, most of whom have experience rafting with a guide and are in good physical shape. I'd like to make this a multiday trip with 2 nights of camping and 2 or 3 days paddling - at least 30 miles I guess. I think class I-III with the occasional IV would be appropriate for our group that would like to relax some, but not fall asleep in the boat.

I am looking for a river that:

1) has a long section that is likely to be navigable by a raft in late April
2) allows camping somewhere along its shores
3) is tranquil enough that our gear has a good chance of remaining in the boat
4) has a put-in or take-out not more than about 4 hours from Asheville, NC

Thanks for any advice you can offer!

I'm not sure of the options in that area (WNC) but there is some potential on the New River between Virginia and WV. The further downstream you get the more likely you are to encounter more whitewater.

You might want to post over on Boatertalk in the Raftzone as most of the users on that board are based in the SE. The Buzz is more of a Rocky Mountain board.

I recall doing a 2-3 day canoe float on the Chattahoochee in northern Georgia when I was at a camp there near Highlands. Pretty chill, certainly no class IV. AW info here: American Whitewater - GA State Rivers
Have fun - I'd love to take a trip back out there sometime...
