The smith is a great float for nice camps and pretty scenery, not worth taking a pole in my opinion. I love the Snake, hells canyon (top 32 miles for bass). Green below Flaming Gorge a,b,c or Gates of Lodore are all great 3-5 day trips.
Life is not fair when it comes to lotteries. My group I mostly raft and fish with can not get a Middle Fork to save our lives but got Smith last 2 years in a row.
