Middle Fork question

When I was putting in my MF wishlist, I noticed an alert on the website about a river wide log and mandatory portage above Velvet. We didn't do the MF last year so I don't know if this is something new or old news? I remember something last year about a log down around Jump Off, but not around Velvet. Just curious????

Here is a photo of the log. I think it will be gone come May. Snow ice and high water will take care of it. To me it looks like plenty of room to back ferry behind the big rock and take the left run. At the level in the photo I would just float over the long and velvet falls.
