May 22 Deso Launch Bugs

Should we expect lots of skeeters at the put in? I expect the river will still be rising.

It's been my experience that there are always biters at the put in, regardless of when it is. I suspect they'd be there on Christmas day. Below that, though, should be mostly if not completely bug free.

there are always bugs on deso. as the water is rising they are bad then after the flow peaks and starts to fall they are horrible. mosquitos are usually worse from sand wash to jack creek then they decrease to very annoying. have a great trip

Bugs

If you are using river runners for your shuttle, call them for the latest update.

In May, bugs only at Sand Wash unless the water is very high, and then there could also be bugs at the camp near the turtle fossil - Bighorn, remember one of those first trips that we stayed there and it was mostly a swamp? Think the bugs were bad that first night, but after that, nada for the rest of the river.

I only remember bugs on our June and July trips after the water flows started to go down, but I'm old and only have enough room in my memories for the good times not the bad. Anyone else here launching on the 28th May?
