Just received this from the FS. You should have too if you have a permit.
Dear Middle Fork boater,
You are receiving this email because the Forest Service is in the early stages of planning for maintenance on the Indian Creek Airstrip, which may affect your launch logistics. If you plan to fly in and the airstrip is closed for grading, you may have to bump down to Thomas Creek Airstrip.
The crew is hoping to arrive with stock on May 5th and begin grading the airstrip May 6-8.
However, these dates are very tentative, and may get delayed into the following week, possibly as far as May 16th.
Variables that will affect when the airstrip is closed are:
· The trails and how long it will take to get the crew and the stock into Indian Creek. Since it will be the first trip on that trail, they will have to clear their way in, so the number of trees and slides will affect their travel time.
· The soil moisture has to be good for the grading to be done; think Goldilocks; not too dry, not too wet.
· Weather and all of life’s variables may affect the timing too.
More information will be emailed out as plans develop. This email is just a heads-up of possible impacts to your trip.
