John's is beautiful but requires a couple "difficult" moves. You need a climber to lead and a rope. Slickhorn is wonderful. Grand Gulch is too. The ruins are way up Grand Gulch and not reachable on an easy day hike from the rio. Plus, you need a different permit to hike up that far. Just camped at Grand Gulch and was serenaded by the Canyon Tree Frogs. We were a group of only 3 and slept Gulch left up against the wall. The normal camp is Gulch right and away from the frog music. Oljeto is a great hike but technically you need a Navajo permit to hike it. I'm not aware of any Anasazi ruins easily reachable from the rio in the lower section. There is also the hike at Honaker but that's not a canyon hike. Also some remains from the white man's attempt to exploit oil and mine etc in the canyon.
