Lodore is completely dam release. unless you get the week in late may/early June when they let 5000cfs out of flaming gorge, (which as soon as Yampa starts flowing, they shut down lodore 500 a dy; until steady 800 flow all summer; otherwise 30,000+ floods Jensen; downstream of Dino.)
Maybe they let out more, but that was standard summer release 94-2003 (when i guided there).
if you take the time to scout upper triplet from below it, you'll see a beautiful low water run, even for 18 boats where you barely have to take a stroke, and sets you up perfect for lower triplet. (You'll never see it, unless you take the time to look at it from below.)
Those canyon river trips are not about rapids for me. Put me in a raft on a wilderness river and my world is at peace.
(last lodore trip i did was in sept 2011, and they were letting out more water (1000cfs) than they did during most of every commercial season.
Anyone going, love to go between oct 18-28. Don't like to run lodore solo, too easy to get really parked, mid-river.
