If you drive 14 hours to go boating you would be crazy to do the lower Grande Ronde downstream of Boggans instead of from Minam to Troy, if not the entire Wallowa/GR from Minam to Hellar. Minam to Troy is 200% more interesting in all respects (more wildlife potential, more scenic, more rapids, better camps, more roadless)
It is about a 3 hour drive (116 miles) from Hellar Bar to Minam. I bet you could even leave your rigs at Hellar Bar and have Grant Ritchie (Minam Motel Raft Rental and Shuttle) pick you up with a big flatbed trailer at Hellar and drive you to Minam depending on how many peeps/boats you have. You could get some more food in Enterprise on the drive to Minam. Grant has a lot of beer for sale too at the Minam Motel at reasonable prices. Then your rigs just stay at Hellar Bar. Run the whole thing from Minam to Hellar. At high flows in early June you can make 20 miles/day easy or more. You could stay at the Minam Motel the day you shuttle to Minam and get a shower too.
