Grand Canyon canoe

Anyone know of anyone or any outfitter in the Flagstaff area that can/could/would a canoe for a trip down the Grand. Thanks.

I've never heard of anyone renting a canoe, but I know folks take them down. I was on a trip with canoes once, great fun watching all the carnage. I even got to carry my kayak back up to the top of several rapids several times just because each open boat was such a yardsale and it took so long to clean each of them up.

To answer the question though, I'd call the nice folks at Ceiba. They outfit all kinds of gear for the canyon (and can do all your logistics) and might be able to send you in the right direction.

Have a great time with that!

Please take a look at my Photo Web Gallery.
I also have here some gear reviews (that I might update soon).

Why a canoe?
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face.

Did the Grand in 1981 with Bob Miller who, I believe, was the second person to ever open canoe the grand. Of course, the term "open canoe" is a misnomer since his boat was totally stuffed with airbags, as are the other open boats on the grand. He did well in all rapids but lava. He carried back up to try it again and had another swim.

Some people from Rocky Mountain Canoe Club are running open canoes on the Grand right about now. Find the website and you should eventually get a lot of info.
