GC Aug14, 2016, looking for two rafters

We have won a permit for a private trip down the Grand Canyon and are looking for two experienced rafters to join us. If you are interested, or know someone who might be interested, please drop us a line. The permit is for 8 people and 15days August 14-29, 2016. The group so far is just our family of four, including daughter age 14 and son age 16. Two will be kayaking and two will need to be passengers on the rafts.

We are mostly canoeists and kayakers, and have only minimal rafting experience. Mother and son ran the main Salmon last year, mostly kayaking but they also oared the raft one day each. Daughter has paddle rafted the Thompson a couple times last August to check that she would be ok in big water. She found it fun and not scary, including the one time the raft flipped and she had to escape from under it.

We have some experience planning extended trips, including one 2wk trip paddle rafting and kayaking the Alsek River a long time ago, before kids. Plus an annual 1-2wk canoe trip on class 2+ rivers (which are more about the remote wilderness experience than about the whitewater).

Thanks for your consideration and any recommendations you can make.

Time is like a river. You cannot touch the water twice, because the flow that has passed will never pass again. Enjoy every moment of life on or off the river. is offline   Reply With Quote

If you can get 4 good boaters and fill your permit, go for it. Will be better number for safety, and make gear and supply space less of issue for you. Glad you are getting some takers, have a good trip!
