Can it be raft/cat-ed? Years ago I hiked one of the narrows into the escalate on memorial day weekend. Of course it is high water but still very tight. What impressed me was how fast the water was moving. Saw several groups of Kayaks fly down it.

My understanding is no for rafts and cats, you need a pack raft or ducky( or pack cat). Check out what the BLM says about it, as well as past threads, sounds like it tends towards a backpacking trip with some floating. This year could be staying in your boat though, could be the time to run it, with the current snowpack. I'd love to go.

Yeah, no rafts/cats gotta use a ducky or packraft. I really want to do it this spring. Should be plenty of water if we could time it right. The shuttle is long, and the hike out is long. Shortest hike out (according to BLM is half mile and 600' verticle gain (https://www.nps.gov/glca/planyourvis...0Escalante.pdf) The other hike out isn't as steep, but is 3 miles.

Or you go all the way to Lake Powell and get picked up there. Some of my family and friends did this a few years back.

Sorry I had meant to quote the previous post on hiking and shuttles... So much for using my phone.

I am interested and able. Depending on dates I could be there in 24 hours. Have done many self-supported IK trips, with others and solo. I also have a reliable vehicle.

I have been wanting to do this and Ive read up on it a little. From what I heard, lighter is better, and that the Russian Olive thorns rip up boats so expect to patch a few times. Overall its a very difficult trip. Hard to get out, dragging rafts, could take longer than expected too. Also, again from what Ive read, it only runs for a week or so a year and its hard to predict, so its very difficult for the working type to plan for it.

This is the year for me

Im planning on this for April 11-17. Im not looking for a big group but help in splitting a boat ride at the end to Bullfrog. If you want out at Coyote Gulch your on your own. Total cost is about $400 so a group of four is $100ea. I have a shuttle lined up from Hwy 12 to bullfrog pick up.
If you would like to try and make it work, msg me here.
