Desolation Canyon Fire Ban

Has anyone been to Sand Wash recently? Rec.gov indicates a fire ban in Deso but I see that it has been rescinded in many locations throughout the state. I launch the 12th and am trying to figure out the meals that we planned for D.O.s Thanks for the insights!

I do not believe the ban includes charcoal in a fire pan.

Charcoal was allowed during the ban middle of last month. Should give em a call and find out for sure. Rec.gov is a POS, but the Deso field ofice has been awesome in my experiances.
Have fun down there man!!

Thanks for the responses, it appears that the ban has been lifted. I am curious though, if we are staying on the Ute lands is the ban still active... no responses necessary, just a curiosity. I'll ask the ranger when I get there.

You might find that a ban ordered by the BLM in that area would trump an Indian tribe's rules, but that an Indian tribe might trump a ban put in place by a State or County agency. Indian Tribes are sovereign entities that are subordinate to the sovereignty of the US, but not the individual states.

You might also find that the County Jail has really shitty food while your very expensive lawyer is billing you to travel from far away to get you out of jail before you win your case.

I wouldn't risk it.
