Deschutes river in Maupin the 19th

Me and some boys make a trip to Maupin the week that camp fires open up in October, and we are set to go this weekend. But, the lion's share of the camping over there is BLM, does anyone know if the sites are all closed down? Last year the hunters had almost every site taken, and now I'm thinking they might be closed all together. I'm gonna call the Prineville office today, but I'm not expecting much out of them...

I IK'd from Harpham Flat to Sandy Beach last Saturday. I believe Harpham Flat is BLM and there were a couple groups camping there. All of the campsites along that 10 mile stretch appeared to be open as well. Not sure about the upper or lower sections. Sorry I don't have better info.

The only recreation part of the gov that's cracking down is the NPS. That's because they have to. The USFS and BLM has extremly limited emergency capacity. Just don't expect any support and if a LEO hooks up with you smile and take it. They're just doing their job.

Thank you for the replies. I called the BLM office (Closed!) and then I called the Imperial lodge. They were nice and said it was still open to camping and boating. We Might not camp near the river this time, the camps were actually pretty full at this time last year. We might camp on the White not too far out of town. It was pretty windy last year next to the river.
And yes, I am always polite to LEO's. Especially in areas like that, as I've witnessed them take a lot of flack. I'm the kind that would turn around and go home if they told me the river was closed. Don't get me wrong, I'd be upset about it, but I don't like to break the rules. (Much)
