You should be able to reserve a group campsite at gold bar, which would be worth while dollar wise if your trips more then a couple people, and take some stress out of finding a camp site late at night when your tired.

One other option could be to camp up at Dewey bridge if coming from that direction, at least a better chance of snagging a site if no reservation, can also still camp for free across highway from Dewey I believe. Don't even try on week end though. It's at least an hour to potash from there, maybe a little more.

Ben, at low water, there is a large sandbar on river left right across from the Potash Ramp. It might be sandy, or muddy, depending on most recent flows. We camped there this time last year. It was a good camp. Have a great journey, yours, tom

We are launching Thursday from Mineral Bottom. Anyone have any idea about firewood availability this late in the season? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Jen, in Stillwater, you will find lots of driftwood on the upstream ends of the copious sandbars. There will also be lots of dead tamarisk for fuel. In Cat you may need to walk up the beach lines to this years higher water to find lots of drift. It's always smart to stop in the eddies like at Lower XY on the left and load up if you want to be "safe." You are early in the burning season so should have no troubles. Have a Great trip, yours, tom

We are planning on leaving on Thursday, putting in at Potash. Any recommendations on day 1 or 2 hikes? Plus, is the wave at rapid 10 running at
this water level and how is the campsite.

So we got off the river one week ago. The new canyon lands map was extremely accurate. Although there was about 4 to 5 new rapids below Imperial. The lower camps were not as bad as I have seen them. The best options where fallen slab and new rock fall. Dirty devil was the best I have ever seen it. We were able to back two trailers down and pull our boats out directly from the water.

Thanks for that reply. What was the current like to Dirty Devil? We have a motor, but I'm curious how the water is moving, if at all.
