Wish I could remember or know. The sad thing is that this was a commercial trip and the lead guide did it. You know the whole bullshit old school outfitter crap. They are not around anymore. In late August.
I guest guided for them. About ten days after the trip I was talking to another guy who had guided for them some and he said they did that all the time cuz that was they way they had always done it. The sad thing is they exposed everyone on the trip to the nastiness.
Edit to add: Between Thomas Creek and the B on river right. On a very low water year. The lowest in the last 20 or so.
My stomach turned sour within a week, was bad for about a month and not great for almost a year after that. Still not awesome sometimes. They burned all their garbage in the canyon too. Plastic, foam, everything. Had a separate fire pan they would put up downwind from camp a bit and one or two guides then had to keep the fire going enough to burn the days garbage. Such an awesome thing. And of course the wind in the Middle Fork never changes direction. So inevitably the wafting of a full on garbage fire would wash over the camp.
Whenever I think about it I still say fuck those guys.
