Who rows a 14' RMR w/Fishing frame??

Hey Gang!

Does anybody on MB row a 14' RMR w/ a full fishing frame?? Im looking at switching from my 14' Super Duper Puma with a full fishing frame to the RMR set up. Looking at the boat at DownRiver, the RMR is a significantly wider. Thats what Im looking for. But seeing it in person again today, she's a big boat for sure.

My SDP is awesome to row, fast, agile and nimble but space is limited and I can't add a double rail which is something Im very interested in. My concern is the RMR size and Im asking who has one & how it handles? I have no reference, all I've ever rowed is my SDP.

Is the RMR a pig with a full fishing frame to row?? I'd love to pick anybody brain that has one.

Thanks for your insights up front!

Tight lines,

We had one. 14' RMR with NRS frame. GREAT first boat, but a real pig.

Currently in a Maravia, sure enjoy the handling, durability, rocker, etc.

Both boats are great.

Why can't you build a double rail for the SDP?

The RMR will be a heavier boat for sure. It will feel heavier to turn with the added width, weight and less rocker. The bigger frame, double rail, bigger floors, etc will add weight as well. It wont stall as well coming out of a fast run with the extra surface area on the water. The RMR's are great boats but they aren't built for agility like the puma series is. The RMR's are built as a utility boat. If you want a wider boat that will carry more and don't mind the trade offs it will be a great boat. I like to fish super skinny water so I like a narrower lighter rig for fishing. I have a buddy that rows a 14' aire 143R ( a more utility shaped boat) loaded down with more shit than he knows what to do with and while it does just fine it is a hell of a lot more work to slow row and work the water. Huge difference rowing that thing compared to my 13'er.

I fish a 14" hyside as a fishing setup....I think it's a little narrower than the about 6' exactly.....carries overnight stuff well....I had to decide on one boat only....if only fishing I'd do a smaller boat, but no regrets on the 14' for Colorado compromise and occ overnight trips....I mostly fish the Eagle and a little Colorado and Roaring Fork, but don't personally have experience with a smaller boat to compare
