San Juan High Water Camping

Just got off the San Juan, at around 7000 cfs. Amazing trip no issues until we got to our assigned camp on the last day. Steer Gulch which we were told at the put in that is was high and dry and we would have no problems. When we arrived the campsite marker was in the water, as was the entire camp. I think that it will take a few days at much lower flows until this camp dries up. Hope that helps the next group.

Did you decide to push out to the take-out? We did that earlier this year when low flows made the approach to the camp a muddy mess. Not worth the gear haul to the camp.

Pushed to the take out

I can't say we pushed to the take out as we were floating around 7 mph. It turned out to be a great sun set ride down the canyon. Camping at the take out was fine, great spot just past the boat ramp to the left.
