Rafting on the Madison?? Near West Yellowstone

Hey Everyone! I know it is a little out of season, but I am wondering if anyone has some good info on rafting near West Yellowstone? I am taking my family up there and would like to take a nice mellow trip down a river and do some fishing...

Any ideas?

If fishing is what you're after then check out the Henry's Fork or the Madison.

Beartrap Canyon on the Madison is a great trip 1 class 3+ rapid, very scenic wilderness run.

Even at bone flows most would consider Kitchen Sink a IV

Just a second opinion... Winter runs through Bear Trap are a cold mofo. Often quite windy in winter. Aim for overkill on your duds, you won't regret it. That said, you will have it to yourself and it is beautiful in the very off-season.
Have fun.

Last time I checked, I believe there are sections of river below quake lake that are prohibited from floating. I can't recall exactly what sections, but I remember seeing signs while I was flyfishing there a while back. So be sure to check the regs before you launch.

If your looking for a mellow fishing float, the Madison River anywhere between Lyons Bridge and Ennis is a safe bet. No whitewater but fabulous scenery & legendary fishing. Fishing is not allowed from a boat above Lyons Bridge or between Ennis & Ennis Lake.

The Henry's Fork of the Snake is also a good option approx. 25 miles from West Yellowstone, in Idaho. The "Box Canyon" section is way cool floating through the lava rocks of the ancient yellowstone caldera. Class 1 & 2.

Expect to see a lot of fishing guides and clients on both of these rivers.
