Rafting in San Jose

Hi there! I would like to ask about rafting in el rio Pacuare ( there is a nice story about this place here: ). How much fun is it? Has anyone done it there? I've done some rafting in other countries and i am just wondering if San jJse is worth spending the money on or should I go to a different place? Thankx in advance!

Yes its awsome, yes you should go, and yes you should go with
Check out their videos of the different sections of river. They also do all inclusive packages. They are based in Turrialba, which is 1-2 hours East of San Jose. There isnt alot for rafting near San Jose, most of the rafting is around Turrialba.

Go with Costaricaadventures or Desafio tours. Both are reputable. I don't think there is decent rafting near the capital, and like most central american cities, you probably don't want to be there anyways, let alone in the water.

Go north to the Rio Toro or the Sirapique (sp) - pronounce Sarah - Pikee. Both are great and warm water is a nice touch.

The Pacuare is a great trip. It's a 17 mile stretch of fabulous whitewater and cool jungle. Another outfitter is Rios Tropicales - have done 5 trips with them, and they are truly professional - been around for over 20 years. The overnight lodging is heaven! Turrialba is the whitewater capital of CR. Well worth it.
