Rafting Browns Canyon

I plan to raft Browns Canyon this weekend in a 14' self-bailer.

I would like some information on the set up and approaches for the main big rapids. Does anyone have details?

Shortly after going under the railroad bridge you will come to Canyon Doors, upper and lower. Run both just right of center. Next is Pinball, there are a variety of routes but I would start right and read and run around the boulders. Next is Zoom Flume, you can go left or right - just miss the pyramid rock 3/4 of the way through, near center. The holes tend to be bigger on the left. Big Drop comes next and is on a right hand curve, the hole is on river left near the bank. Try and miss it on the right or hit it hard and straight. Then comes staircase, drops 3-6 are the only ones to worry about and are all relatively straight shots. Next is Widowmaker, a long rocky rapid. It starts with a read and run section on a left curve. Then comes toilet bowl, either approach from the left and dig into the green to spin through, or skirt it on the right. After that you have to make a couple of moves around big boulders but the rapid is pretty much over. Last is raftripper, you have to make a move from right to left between two pointed rocks which at low water can be hard on raft floors. That's pretty much it. Good luck.

You want us to oar it for you?

It's only the most popular run on the planet. Maybe just follow the masses?
