Rafters rescued in White Rock Canyon 5/25

Anybody know any more details on this?

Rafters rescued from Rio Grande |

Opps rescue was actually 5/24. Need more coffee before posting.

the link apparently changed:
Rafters rescued in WR Canyon |

"the youngest, a 10-year-old girl, apparently forgot to bring extra clothing and shoes, and that’s where their troubles began."

I guess they missed the memo about not relying on 10-year-olds to properly prep for wilderness trips.

I am still trying to figure out where the put in to have gotten that cold so fast. The usual put in is at Buckman Rd which is just short ways upstream of where they were rescued from.

Sounds like a total cluster.

Interesting. In my limited experience in WR I have encountered some characters... Last time we had to rescue some fool in blue jeans on a sit-on-top with no dry clothes, water or food, or comprehension of how difficult it is to paddle miles of flat water with a headwind. Seems a little strange a 10 year old girl from North Carolina was in there with 2 adult men from CO and NM, and it didn't mention anything about them being family...

The guy we ran into last time had been dropped off at Ottowi bridge, even though it isn't a legal access...

Yeah, I have a pretty good feeling that these were "rafters" of the wal-mart variety.
