raft repair advice needed

Well, I'm finally getting around to repairing the big juicy. Her bow was ripped like a pirated CD this summer on some limestone. the on river patch job held air for a few hours at a time, but now that the season is over, I want to tear it off and do it right.

it's an Achilles bucket boat. what do I need? what do I do? what do I NOT do?

any advice is appreciated! thanks.

Inflatable Technologies phone number. Just drop the dough and get it done right. Your boat will thank you with worry free air retention for the rest of your raft's life. Consider it an investment.

Try Zach. good work, and probably a little cheaper than IT.

Or if you want to go at it yourself, NRS give a nice instruction sheet:

There is no reason that you can't do the repair and have if hold tight for years. Use shore adhesive. Follow all of the directions. For removing the old glue use a drill with a stiff plastic wire brush - Hyside sells them and you can also buy them at most hardware stores, they save a huge amount of time.

The real secret is in the glue. Try to swing by a repair place like IT, or IRR and talk them out of some what they are using in the shop. Take a clean quart can with you from a paint store and get it already mixed. No offence, but I haven't had any luck with Bostich or shore adhesive. My Stabond patch is also coming loose at one edge

I've always had great luck with Clifton Hypalon® Adhesive I put some proactive 'patches' on the floor of my raft where the floor valve and pressure release valve are to add some protection for those areas a few years ago and have had no peeling at all. Clifton is the deal. Be sure to clean well with Raft Cleaner (Toluene) and you should have no trouble at all.

I second using the instructions on the NRS site: Hypalon and PVC inflatable raft repair

bula, what kind of damage is it? Sounds like a long gash maybe? If so, they should really be patched from both the inside and outside with two patches to be done right and to make it bomber. It's a tough repair to do really well.

Good luck with it if you go DIY though.
