I couldn't tell from your post if this is your first time rowing (or one of the first). If so, north of Jackson Hole in Grand Teton, is a stretch of the Snake from Pacific Creek to Deadman's Bar that is beautiful (but no rapids). You might want to do that for a start. Also, south of Jackson, you might try anywhere from Wilson to West Table -- few rapids. The section from West Table to Sheep Gulch is the "whitewater section." Not sure when you are coming, but later in the season, the largest rapid is Kahuna which can be seen from a turnout if you want and can easily be avoided if you choose on river right.
