Helping each other

Just wanted to say thanks to Derek, a guide with River Runners, for his help yesterday in the Royal Gorge. You showed true river spirit. Thanks again.

Years back, a crew got on river without proper gear. One took a swim at spike buck at 2600 cfs and weather had turned cold and wet. Said crew stopped at Harveys beach and some well prepared boaters who were present dug in their dry bags and produced garb for the remainder of the run. No names, just helped. Boating community is awesome and always had a great experience on this rio.

That has to be the biggest thing I miss from working on the lower Ark, seems like it was almost always like that there, was good stuff.

So were's our story mister landscape?

I can't wait for the story, so I will write Derek's story.

Derek was floating along, enjoying a brew and minding his own business, when he heard screaming downriver.

"Hmmm, that's odd," he thought.

He put down his beer, picked up his oars, and pushed his boat into the current and around the bend.

"Oh, no!", he exclaimed. "There's a boat on fire! And there are little girls on it!"

He rushed over, jumped aboard, and rescued a troop of girl scouts from the burning boat.

Hooray for Derek!!!

You know what I heard? One time after a very early spring day on the river Derek was on his way back to town when he happened on a bus full on nuns. The bus was slipping off a cliff and Derek jumped out of his truck, and held the bumper until all of the nuns were able to get off the bus in safety....................Well that's what I heard.
