That makes sense. Not sure how I feel about someone driving my rig let a alone with 7k lbs behind it though.

FYI: I thought I had seen something about cars on trailers. This below is on the website of a shuttle company I regularly use (All Rivers out of Whitebird, ID - a very good, dependable operation)

Trailers with cars on them are considered a HAZMAT issue.
as the gas in your tank is considered hazardous.
Because of this, I can no longer shuttle trailers with cars on them. I apologize, but the fines are huge!

That sounds like a bunch of shit. If that was the case then anyone who hauls a car would have to deal with Hazmat, private or commercial. I think he just came up with a way to fight back against cheap boaters.

That may well be the case but we use them for our Salmon trips and they are good.

We haul a bunch of raft gear in a single enclosed car-hauler trailer (3-6 rafts + multi-day trip gear depending on trip) and put a small SUV in the trailer for the shuttle. That way it requires only one driver instead of two. Makes a difference, cost-wise for Grand Canyon, Salmon trips, Dinosaur, Cataract canyon, etc. But we have run into Idaho whitewater shuttle companies that aren't comfortable with that set up, so discuss it with them about it beforehand or they may be pissed.
